FAQ

  • What does WHITSY stand for?

WHITSY is an acronym: “WHat If They Say Yes?” It is meant to inspire confidence in job seekers and employers to go for what they truly want, without hesitation – eliminating the frequent question in our minds: ‘...but what if they say no?’ By negotiating salary bids early and comparing the opportunities before the interview, job seekers and employers can go for what really suits their goals without being concerned about a negative response – bid can always be negotiated. Whitsy is the place where employers can find great employees for the best ‘price’, and attract top talent with bids they will not be able to ignore. Employers – figure out what you are truly after and go for it - What If They Say YES?

  • Why is it important to create a bidding system for the job industry?

At Whitsy, the bid is really a first quote. We believe that a bidding system helps both sides to ‘cut to the chase’ faster, and make the whole process simpler and more effective. By bidding, both sides place an initial ‘price’ on the job and can negotiate the best deal for them in an interactive and private system. Both sides have the ability to compare and negotiate the best outcome for them. Job seekers can aim to get a job faster, get a higher salary, or finally land their dream job. Employers can aim to get top talent for salaries that fit their budgets better, or attract passive candidates with bids they will not be able to ignore. It is simply a system that helps employers and job seekers save time and money by putting the basics on the table, first.

  • Am I obligated to the bids I accept or to any of my bids that candidates accept?

No. You are not obligated to ANY bid until you have made your hiring decision and a formal offer to a candidate. Any bid you accept or made to a candidate who accepted will expire automatically 120 days of your last communication with the candidate, or when you close the job in the system. You are not obligated to respond, send interview schedules, or hire anyone who accepted your bids. If you do, however, extend a formal hiring offer to a candidate from Whitsy with whom you have an accepted bid, the formal offer has to be within the accepted bid range with the specific candidate.

  • What if I accepted a candidate’s bid and changed my mind?

You can stop the process with each candidate at any point in the process, and you are not obligated to any bid until you make you final hiring decision. If you decided on one candidate, you can simply close the job in the system and all the other bids will automatically expire, or you can leave the job open and all other bids will expire automatically after 120 days.

  • Can I use the messaging system to contact candidates directly?

Yes. We created this system so you can contact any candidate directly, in case you have any questions that are not answered in the candidate’s profile, prior to placing a bid. In order to protect our job seekers’ interests, using the messaging system in order to request contact information or to make any solicitation to communicate outside the Whitsy.com system, is strictly forbidden prior to placing a bid, and is a violation of the site’s 'Terms and Conditions'. Job seekers expect Whitsy to be a platform where they are interviewed only after a bid has been accepted. Once a bid is made, all communications are done through the negotiation system.

  • What are the daily ‘most used key words’ that I see in my account page?

These are the most used key words by job seekers in YOUR industry, in their profiles. These words are conveniently displayed for you in your account page, in your search page, and ‘post a job’ page, to help you find more of the most relevant candidates. In the same way, candidates in your industry are shown the most used keywords by employers in the job posts and descriptions, so you should pay close attention to the words you use.

  • What happens if I want to make a formal offer to a candidate from Whitsy.com?

Formal hiring offers are binding hiring contracts, and should be made after you had the chance to interview the candidate and make a decision to hire him/ her. If you decide to hire a candidate from Whitsy.com after a bid has been accepted by either side, you formal hiring offer must be within the accepted bid range. We recommend that formal hiring offers will be made on the Whitsy.com website, where the offers is linked to the bid, in order to protect your interests and make sure that final negotiations are within the accepted bid range (and not higher).

  • What if I extended a formal offer to a candidate, but they ask for a higher salary than we agreed?

By using Whitsy.com, candidates agree that formal hiring offers from employers will be within the initially accepted bid range. However, if a candidate still insists on a higher salary than the accepted bid, you can try to negotiate his demand, or withdraw the offer. We recommend making the formal hiring offers through the Whitsy system, so they are linked to the accepted bids.

  • Can a candidate contact me whenever he/ she wants?

No. candidates can either apply to your jobs, or respond once to each of your communications with them. After a bid has been accepted by either a candidate or yourself, the candidate can send you a reminder only once to send the interview schedules. If you do not respond, the bid will expire after 120 days. Only after an interview has been scheduled or conducted, a candidate can contact you directly if you provide your contact information.

  • Can I interview a candidate online through the website?

Yes. You can use our service through Skype to communicate and interview your candidates. We believe it will save you even more time in the process. If you are comfortable to make a decision after an online interview, you can make a final formal offer on Whitsy.com, and make the whole hiring process online.

  • Do I need to pay anything for the services in Whitsy.com?

No. The services are free for now, to all users. Enjoy!

  • Do I need any negotiating skills?

No. Before Whitsy, you probably needed to negotiate your own salary with each employer, after a long interview process, when it is uncomfortable to make sure you get what you want. Here, you can simply respond to salary bids from employers with what is truly acceptable to you, and accept only the bids you want based on your situation, goals or career path. You can also place bids on jobs that you want and decide for yourself what is the annual salary you want. Get the responses, compare and respond. Simple. No special skills needed.

  • Who can see my bids and negotiation messages?

Only the person you are negotiating with. Whether you are an employer or job seeker –only the person you are negotiating or communicating with sees your bids and messages. The Whitsy system can see the communication, in cases where there are any disputes, but other than that no other employer or job seeker can be exposed to this information. Ever.

  • Who can view my profile?

Employers and job seekers on the Whitsy system can view your profile, however, no one can view your inbox, bids, negotiations, or any communication you may have on the site. If you wish to stay anonymous until a bid is made, you can simply choose to ‘hide your name’ when you create your profile. See next.

  • Can I stay anonymous and still have an active profile?

Yes. When you create or edit your profile, simply mark the box for ‘keep my name hidden’. Your profile will still come up to relevant employers, but your name will be marked as ‘Confidential’ until the first bid is made. Employers are not allowed to use our messaging system to ask job seekers to reveal their contact info before a bid is made. If that happens, we recommend that you ask for a bid to be made first to protect you privacy and higher chances of getting a bid.

  • What if I accept a bid and change my mind?

That can happen. If you accepted a bid, but changed your mind and are not interested in going to the interview (or even if you went to the interview and are not interested in proceeding with this employer), you can either contact the employer through our system and explain that you are no longer interested, or you can stop responding to the employer’s messages/ emails – the bid will automatically expire in the system after 120 days.

  • What if I place a bid, and hear nothing back?

That usually means that the employer is not interested in this application now. It doesn’t mean the employer will not be interested in a month or two, and for this reason we leave your bid open for 120 days. You will not be able to re-bid on the same job as long as your first bid is open (no response for 120 days), so we recommend that you apply only with serious salary bids that are reasonable, and that you are truly interested in.
